How can I delete a recurring task (clean up the task dashboard)?

Q: How can I delete and clean up the recurring tasks that have filled my dashboard?

A: To delete a recurring task(s), follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to Staff > Tasks > Dashboard.

  2. For the task you wish to delete, click the Action drop-down arrow and select (as shown below).

  3. The delete behavior will depend on how many instances of the recurring task are on the dashboard:

    1. If the recurring task has more than one occurrence on the dashboard, you will see the following options (as shown below):

      1. Delete this task only: Deletes only the selected instance.

      2. Delete this task and any Past Tasks: Removes all related incomplete recurring instances with dates in the past. Any current or future recurring tasks will remain.

      3. Delete All Tasks: Permanently deletes the selected task and all related past incomplete instances, as well as future scheduled recurring tasks.

    2. If the recurring task has only one occurrence on the dashboard, a simple confirmation that must be okayed will appear before the task is deleted.

Note: Recurring task instances are created automatically via a daily background job. When a recurring task becomes overdue, only one new instance is created for the first valid date in the future — past occurrences are not recreated. A maximum of 10 uncompleted instances of the same recurring task can exist at one time.
